A Proposal for
Forcomms Services
Following our recent discussions and review of the Consolidated Concept Briefing Document for the Smart Self-Sustaining Power & Wireless Charging Module, Shield Works has assessed the technical scope and is pleased to present this Phase 1 proposal.
Background
Forcomms Services Pty Ltd is a Perth, WA-based technology company pursuing development of a standalone tabletop device that uses electromagnetic induction as its primary energy generation mechanism, supplemented by thermoelectric harvesting, to deliver Qi-compatible wireless charging and USB-C wired output at a target of 5 to 10W.
The concept involves seven defined subsystems: energy generation, initiation and control, bootstrap power, power conditioning, wireless power transmission, thermal energy harvesting, and mechanical structure. The system architecture is documented in detail across component intent tables covering mechanical, electrical, control, and thermal elements.
The goal of this engagement is to produce a comprehensive feasibility study and strategic roadmap that gives Forcomms the clarity needed to make informed decisions on next steps, whether that is proceeding directly to prototype development or refining specific aspects of the concept first.
Target Volume and Timeline
| Stage | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Prototype | 3 to 5 units |
| Pilot Run | 50 to 200 units |
| Mass Production | 1,000+ units (subject to feasibility) |
Note: Production volumes are indicative targets provided by Forcomms Services. These will be validated and refined as part of the RTMP process based on the feasibility study outcomes.
RTMP Launch Phase
The Route to Market Plan (RTMP) is a paid strategic planning engagement that precedes any development work. It maps the exact pathway from the current concept stage through to mass production manufacture.
Duration: Approximately 4 to 6 working weeks from confirmation. The RTMP Launch Phase consists of five core deliverables, each designed to give Forcomms complete clarity on feasibility, cost, and the development programme before any execution begins.
RTMP Launch Phase — Deliverables
The Launch Phase runs across five structured steps, each building on the last:
What the RTMP Document Covers
The 30–40 page RTMP is your complete strategic blueprint. It includes:
Exclusions
The RTMP Launch Phase fee covers all five deliverables listed above, including all research, technical assessment, reporting, and coordination. The following are excluded and would be scoped and costed within the RTMP document itself:
- –Electronics development (PCB design, firmware, power conditioning circuitry).
- –Prototyping, sampling, and physical testing.
- –Component procurement or custom coil/magnet assembly.
- –Mechanical enclosure fabrication or tooling.
- –Certification and compliance testing.
- –Shipping costs for physical samples or prototypes.
- –Mass production and assembly costs.
- –Factory or facility visits, accompaniment, and associated travel expenses (separately scoped if required).
Payment Terms
| Milestone | Amount | Trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | $4,750 USD | On confirmation to commence |
| Stage 2 | $4,750 USD | On delivery of the Technical Analysis Report (Deliverable 3 of 5) |
| Total | $9,500 USD | Fixed fee engagement |
Following delivery of the Technical Analysis Report and receipt of the Stage 2 payment, the remaining deliverables (Indicative Product Quotation and RTMP Document) will be completed and delivered within the programme timeline.
Safeguards and Clarifications
1. Technical Feasibility
Phase 1 is an honest technical assessment. Our R&D team will follow the engineering wherever it leads. The feasibility study will assess system architectures, identify which configurations are technically viable, define an engineering pathway toward prototype, and provide clear recommendations on where to focus and what to discard. Alternative approaches including resonant systems, hybrid energy integration, and advanced material options will be evaluated as part of this process. If certain architectures or approaches are not viable, the report will say so clearly, along with recommendations on the most promising direction forward. Certain requirements, such as the self-sustaining energy generation target and the 5 to 10W output specification, carry meaningful engineering complexity. The RTMP will assess the feasibility, cost implications, and any trade-offs associated with these requirements and present options for the client to consider.
2. Scope of Phase 1
Phase 1 does not include execution level work such as PCB development, physical prototyping, or hardware validation. Those activities sit within Phase 2 and Phase 3 and are costed separately once Phase 1 has established the technical foundation. This structure ensures the client has a clear and honest picture of what is achievable and what it will cost before committing to the larger investment.
3. Scope Changes
If requirements change materially during the RTMP process or additional product variants are introduced, we will adjust both cost and timeline accordingly and agree any changes before proceeding.
4. Quotation Accuracy
The Indicative Product Quotation delivered as part of the RTMP is subject to the level of readiness for manufacture. At idea/concept stage, initial pricing will be indicative and will be progressively refined through the development phases.
5. Timelines
The 4 to 6 week estimate is based on the current scope and assumes reasonable availability for the launch call and any follow-up discussions needed during the review process.
