01 Background

About the Project

Pillora is a premium modular daily pill and supplement organiser positioned within the health, wellness, and lifestyle category. The product is designed to replace dated, clinical pill organisers with a refined, design-led alternative that removes stigma and supports modern supplement routines.

The product consists of a rigid outer chassis — injection moulded ABS or polycarbonate inspired by a sunglass case silhouette — housing 7 interchangeable food-grade silicone internal pods with integrated friction-fit lids. Each pod is lettered for the day of the week and features magnetic base alignment for precise positioning within the chassis. Target dimensions are approximately 200mm x 60mm x 45mm.

Key technical requirements include food-grade platinum-cured silicone (LFGB or FDA compliant), embedded neodymium magnets, a friction-fit lid mechanism rated to 10,000 open/close cycles, drop test performance from 1 metre, and dishwasher-safe silicone components. The product must be suitable for one-handed operation with a minimum 3–5 year daily-use lifecycle.

The target user is women aged 35–75 in the health and wellness space, with a retail price point of AUD $35–$75. Sales channels include Shopify, Amazon, and social/influencer marketing. The product sits in the mid-premium consumer wellness segment.

The project is currently at idea/concept stage. No CAD files or engineering documentation exist. The client holds a detailed design brief, a manufacturer specification sheet, and preliminary 2D reference drawings. Full product development is required from industrial design and engineering through to mass production manufacture.

03 RTMP Launch Phase

Deliverables & Scope

The Route to Market Plan (RTMP) is a paid strategic planning engagement that precedes any development work. It maps the exact pathway from the current concept stage through to mass production manufacture.

Duration: Approximately 4–6 working weeks from confirmation.

01
Project Launch Call
Official technical review and kick-off call with the Shield Works R&D team. Together we will review the product concept and your goals in detail, map the path forward, and ensure full alignment before work begins.
02
Technical R&D Review
Full Shield Works R&D team technical assessment of all provided product information — including the design brief, manufacturer specification sheet, reference drawings, and any supporting materials.
03
Technical Analysis Report
Basic DFM and DFA assessment, risk analysis, and review of all core technical areas — including injection moulding feasibility for the outer chassis, silicone moulding for the internal pods, magnetic alignment system, friction-fit lid mechanism, food-grade compliance requirements, and packaging.
04
Indicative Product Quotation
Pricing accuracy is subject to the defined level of readiness for manufacture. Given the early concept stage of this project, the quotation will be indicative and refined as the development programme progresses.
05
Route to Market Plan (RTMP) Document
A 30–40 page strategic roadmap document outlining the exact pathway to mass production manufacture.
The RTMP Document Will Include
  • Phase timelines and phase management costs
  • Shield Works resource allocations and core deliverables across each phase
  • Industrial design and 3D CAD development planning
  • Sampling, development, and design optimisation (full DFM/DFA)
  • Injection moulding assessment for the rigid chassis and silicone pod components
  • Magnetic alignment and friction-fit mechanism feasibility
  • Prototyping and pilot run manufacture planning
  • Packaging development scope (rigid telescope box with moulded insert)
  • Mass production pathway and future scaled production goals
Note: The RTMP document is a planning framework only — not the execution of the activities themselves. All development, prototyping, tooling, and production work will be scoped and costed within the RTMP document for client approval before any execution begins.
RTMP Launch Phase Fee

What Is Not Included

The RTMP Launch Phase fee covers all five deliverables listed above, including all research, technical assessment, reporting, and coordination. The following are excluded and would be scoped and costed within the RTMP document itself.

Industrial design, 3D CAD development, and engineering work

Silicone moulding development and tooling for internal pods

Injection moulding tooling for the outer chassis and lid

Prototyping, sampling, and physical testing

Magnetic component sourcing and integration

Food-grade certification and compliance testing (LFGB, FDA)

Packaging development, tooling, and production

Shipping costs for physical samples or prototypes

Mass production and assembly costs

06 Safeguards & Clarifications

Scope & Risk Clarity

Scope Changes
If requirements change materially during the RTMP process or additional product variants are introduced beyond the current 7-day organiser, we will adjust both cost and timeline accordingly and agree any changes before proceeding.
Quotation Accuracy
The Indicative Product Quotation delivered as part of the RTMP is subject to the level of readiness for manufacture. At idea/concept stage, initial pricing will be indicative and progressively refined through the development phases.
Technical Feasibility
Certain requirements — such as the friction-fit silicone lid mechanism, magnetic alignment tolerances, and the target unit cost of $7.50 USD — carry meaningful engineering and commercial considerations. The RTMP will assess feasibility, cost implications, and trade-offs, and present options for your decision.
Timelines
The 4–6 week estimate is based on the current scope and assumes reasonable availability for the launch call and any follow-up discussions needed during the review process.
