01 — Background

Where Superior Jigs Is Today

Superior Jigs Pty Ltd, founded by Mile Vlaski, is the developer and patent holder of the Superior Lock Jig, a precision carpentry jig for door lock and strike plate installation. The product is at a production ready stage. Injection moulds for the plastic components are complete, tested and owned by Superior Jigs. A working prototype is in hand, sample accessories have been selected, and the CAD package including STEP files has been issued.

Superior Jigs is now ready to move into manufacture and is seeking a single accountable China partner to take ownership of the full supply chain. This covers the existing injection mouldings, the remaining bill of materials, full product assembly, packaging, and quality controlled despatch to Australia for the first production run.

This Stage 1 engagement is the first paid engagement between Superior Jigs and the C2W Group. It is scoped to deliver the technical, sourcing and commercial foundation required to confirm the full landed unit cost, decide the tooling strategy, and place Superior Jigs in a position to commit to the first production run with confidence.

02 — Project Aim

What Stage 1 Sets Out to Achieve

Stage 1 sets out to give Superior Jigs full clarity on landed unit cost, tooling strategy, supplier line up and production sequencing before any commitment is made to the first run. Six interlocking deliverables are completed across approximately four working weeks, each owned by a named member of the Shield Works engineering and project management team.

The output is a validated cost build at both the 1,000 unit first run rate and the 10,000 unit annual rate, a clear recommendation on the existing tooling, a confirmed BOM and supplier line up, and a written production plan covering the route from Stage 1 sign off through to despatch from China.

03 — Volume & Timeline Targets

Programme Targets at a Glance

The targets below frame the Stage 1 work and are confirmed or recalibrated as the deliverables progress.

First Production Run. 1,000 units fully finished, shipped to Australia
Annual Volume Forecast. 10,000 units per annum at scale
Target Retail Price. Approximately USD $130 per set
Target FOB China Cost. Approximately USD $26 per set at 1,000 units, to be confirmed by Stage 1
Go to Market. Direct to consumer Australia first, then US and UK, retail in the longer term
Stage 1 Duration. Approximately 4 working weeks from confirmation
Existing Tooling Location. Owned by Superior Jigs, held in Dongguan ~2 hours from Shield Works
Engagement Status. First paid engagement between Superior Jigs and C2W Group
04 — Stage 1 Deliverables

Six Interlocking Deliverables

Stage 1 covers six interlocking deliverables that move the project from production ready concept to a confirmed manufacturing plan with a validated unit cost. Each deliverable is owned by a named member of the Shield Works engineering and project management team.

01
Project Onboarding Workshop
A working technical session between Superior Jigs and the Shield Works engineering and project management team to review the CAD package, mould drawings, prototype, accessory samples, packaging concept and commercial goals. The output is an agreed engineering and sourcing path, with any open technical questions logged for resolution during Stage 1.
02
Existing Tooling Assessment & Migration Options
A structured options analysis on the existing plastic injection moulds. Option A: leave tools at the current Dongguan moulder with C2W Group managing the relationship directly. Option B: migrate to a Shield Works trusted moulder with full tool inspection and trial sampling. Option C: consolidate inside Shield Works where the tools fit our installed machine capacity. Each option carries indicative cost, transfer risk, schedule impact and a clear recommendation.
03
BOM Sourcing Package
Identification, capability vetting and indicative quotation of all non plastic components from the Shield Works trusted supplier network: CNC machined metal parts (shaft, pads, nuts, bushes) with material specification confirmation; rubber clamping pads with material and durometer; accessory set (hole saws, quick change arbor, corner chisel, router bit); off the shelf carry case with custom moulded or die cut foam insert; and retail packaging concept with artwork integration.
04
Assembly Process & Costing
Definition of the full assembly sequence inside Shield Works, including work cells, equipment and fixtures required, and any sub assembly steps. Labour and overhead are translated into a per unit assembly cost at both the 1,000 unit first run rate and the 10,000 unit annual rate, so the impact of volume on assembly cost is visible from the outset.
05
Consolidated Unit Cost Build
A complete unit cost build covering all components, assembly, packaging and in process QC, presented at both the 1,000 unit and 10,000 unit rates. The build validates or recalibrates the target FOB China cost of approximately USD $26 per set. Where the target is not achievable on the current specification, specific cost engineering levers are presented with the unit cost impact of each.
06
Production Plan & Forward Commercial Structure
A written production plan covering the sequence from Stage 1 sign off to despatch of the first production run: tooling decisions, supplier confirmation, sample approval gates, pilot assembly, QC framework and shipping to Australia. Paired with a clear forward commercial structure for production, so the route from Stage 1 to ongoing production is defined and ready to commit to.
05 — Investment & Commercial Structure

Stage 1 Fee & Forward Commercials

Stage 1 Duration
4 Weeks
Approximately, from confirmation
Stage 1 Fee
$5,000
USD — Paid in full on confirmation
Stage 1 Fee — Production Onboarding, BOM Sourcing & Costing

USD — paid in full on confirmation
Stage 1 work begins on receipt of cleared funds
All six Stage 1 deliverables, fully scoped
Dedicated PM in our China head office
Shield Works engineering, sourcing and QC team
Mutual NDA signed prior to commencement
Forward commercial model for production runs is a single confirmed FOB China unit cost per finished set, inclusive of component sourcing, in process QC, packaging, final assembly, finished goods inspection and despatch coordination. No separate monthly service, supply chain or QC fees on top of the unit cost. Tooling, certifications and shipping to Australia sit outside the unit cost and are quoted separately. The unit cost is confirmed at the conclusion of Stage 1 on the basis of the Deliverable 5 cost build and the tooling decision under Deliverable 2.
06 — Exclusions & Safeguards

What Sits Outside Stage 1

The Stage 1 fee covers all six deliverables above, including engineering review, supplier engagement, quotation work, cost build and reporting. The following sit outside Stage 1 and are quoted separately for approval where required.

Tool migration costs (tool out fee, transport, refurbishment, trial sampling) if Option B or C is selected under Deliverable 2.
Production tooling for any new component, including a moulded carry case if revisited at a later stage.
Physical prototyping, golden sample production or pilot run units requested ahead of the first production run.
Certification and compliance testing for the destination market.
Sample shipping from China to Australia, quoted separately at cost.
Patent and trademark filings, regulatory submissions, and any other third party fees.
The production run itself: component purchases, tooling commitments, assembly, packaging, finished goods QC and freight to Australia, quoted and committed to separately at the conclusion of Stage 1.
Safeguards & Clarifications
How we keep Stage 1 honest, on scope and on schedule.
Scope changes
If Stage 1 scope changes materially during the engagement (new components, new variants, expanded packaging), the cost and timeline impact is presented to Superior Jigs for approval before any additional work is undertaken.
Quotation accuracy
The Stage 1 unit cost build is indicative at the level of readiness for manufacture at the time of issue. Final unit costs are locked at the conclusion of Stage 1 once tooling decisions are taken, suppliers are confirmed and the BOM is signed off.
Existing supplier cooperation
Deliverable 2 requires cooperation from the current Dongguan moulder, including physical access to the tooling. Where the moulder is not cooperative, the assessment proceeds on the basis of the existing CAD package, mould drawings and prototype evidence, with the recommendation adjusted accordingly.
Timeline
The 4 week duration assumes reasonable responsiveness from Superior Jigs on technical queries and assumes no major change in scope. Where third party dependencies impact the schedule, the timeline is adjusted in consultation with Superior Jigs.
IP protection
A mutual non disclosure agreement is signed prior to commencement. All supplier engagement during Stage 1 is conducted under controlled disclosure, with sensitive design information held inside the Shield Works engineering team and released to nominated suppliers only on a need to know basis.
